Triquetra / Trinity Knot Moss Agate Pendant

The word ‘Triquetra’ comes from the Latin for ‘three-cornered’ and although its exact origins are unknown, it has been found on Indian heritage sites that are over 5,000 years old.

The triquetra is a triangular figure composed of three interlaced arcs, or three overlapping vesicae piscis lens shapes. It is used as an ornamental design in architecture, and in medieval manuscript illumination.

Its depiction as interlaced is common in Insular ornaments from about the 7th century.
